Community care

A community refers to a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. According to my observation, we tend to impact people’s lives far from us than those in our community. If you’ve never thought about making a difference in your community, or you don’t know how to do it, this article is for you. It will help you to wake up.

It is good to donate to organizations worldwide, but we must never forget that our communities have a lot of needs. We must look around us with compassion, and we will see them. Making a difference in people’s lives in our community is very important. We’ve probably done it, but we must plan to do it on an ongoing basis.

Sometimes, people do charitable work for their self-ambitions to be seen or honoured. Our intention must be for the glory of God. Even for the most basic care, we must do it according to the Bible and rely on the working power of the Holy Spirit.

We are called to be our neighbours’ caregivers. God brings us alongside those suffering so that we can be there for them, just as God was there for us when we were suffering. If you’ve never cared about people in your community, here’s the place to start. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes where there is a need. Do something without expecting to be paid but take care of one another voluntarily.

For example, your neighbour probably needs help mowing his lawn or shaving snow. Maybe the kids in your community need adults to coach them, get them across the road, babysit, etc. You can ask an older adult how you can help them, etc. Maybe your church, your children’s school, or other organization are running low on volunteers; you can plan to help for an hour or more. The opportunities are plentiful. As we approach the New Year, let’s stand up together to impact our communities.
